The Role Responsibilities


  • Market make and risk manage a portfolio of NDFs, deliverables, and local currency bills & bonds in EGP, PKR, and other North African currencies in line with the bank’s strategy
  • Maximise total product income by ensuring effective end to end client risk management/service
  • Grow the MENAP EM FX and Rates FX franchise globally
  • Awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role
  • Automate the product offering to Clients
  • Assist on other MENAP FX/Rates products when necessary
  • Drive the client engagement for RWA optimisation to improve the overall FM product RoRWA


  • Achieving assigned full year budget as per annual P3 and scorecard
  • To increase SCB’s visibility through competitive pricing in FX and Rates products for our clients globally
  • To deepen existing client relationships through regular conversations and by giving market colour and to work with Sales and RMs to identify new prospects and client opportunities
  • Provide sales desk with competitive pricing and product support in our endeavour to outserve
  • To explore new products and structures to increase the breadth and depth of the market
  • Manage risk from client trades
  • To support the FX & Rates team by showing axes to Sales Teams and giving market colour


  • Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations
  • To embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process
  • Towards this, to effectively carry out the assigned role, if any, under Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Assurance
  • Ensure that the business meets its obligations the prevention of money laundering under the Group Policy and Standards and under local laws and regulations
  • Ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place
  • Monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations

People and Talent

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations amongst colleagues and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure active communication of vision, priorities and progress to the business to foster engagement, awareness and motivation
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people where appropriate and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and sharing best practice.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports where appropriate and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Lead and reinforce strategic change and ensure the organisation structure and people programs are aligned and geared towards supporting change
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles. Identify, evaluate and action under performers

Risk Management

  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them
  • The ability to interpret the Group’s financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures
  • Comply with guidelines as outlined in the annual dealer mandate


  • Regulatory & Business conduct. Maintain a strict adherence to the Group Code of Conduct and Financial Markets Code of Conduct in all dealings
  • Take personal responsibility for understanding the risk and compliance requirements of the role. Understand and comply with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws and regulations, including those governing anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions; the Group’s policies and procedures; and the Group Code of Conduct. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employee’s form part of the culture
  • For DIFC governance purposes, any actual or potential conduct, regulatory and/ or internal policy matters relating to DIFC based staff, or activities, must be escalated to the Head of FM MENAP for consideration and action if needed

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Assist Head of FX Trading MENA to lead the FX MENA Trading team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
