Make a difference, lead environmental activities for a nation transforming program, develop a team of environmental leads and work alongside a highly motivated team of professionals in a fast-paced environment in the UAE freight and passenger railway network on behalf of Etihad Rail. The railway will redefine logistics and transport in the region, providing a modern, safe, efficient, and sustainable network which will connect the seven emirates of the UAE to its neighbouring GCC countries.
As the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for environmental oversight of all construction packages for Etihad Rail project. In addition, your duties will be:
- Environmental Inspections and CEMP compliance audits.
- Review of Contractor’s Environmental permit applications, management plans, method statements, incident reports, weekly and monthly reporting and KPIs.
- Supporting project specific ISO 14001 objectives.
- Supporting and tracking permit approvals ensuring only approved works are taking place.
- Maintaining compliance checklists, registers and trackers.
- Formal reporting, communications and day to day engagement with contractors, designers, HSE, regulators and client including presentations and reporting to senior leadership.
- Provide technical or strategic advice to ensure best practice design, mitigation, management are implemented.
As a successful candidate, you will have a Master’ degree in Environmental Science/Engineering from a recognized university with a minimum of 15 years working experience on major infrastructure development projects. You will be required to travel (40% of your time) and visit sites on regular basis, therefore holding a valid driver’s license is a key requirement. Experience of working on construction projects in the Middle East is desirable, especially candidates with UAE experience will be preferred.
